The Practice

Seventeen years of consulting practice.

Dr. Raj Kumar Dutta has practised Internal Medicine and Critical Care in Guwahati for more than seventeen years. His consulting hours are deliberately unhurried — each patient heard in full, each history taken slowly, each diagnosis reasoned aloud.

His approach is rare in modern practice: find the root cause, explain it in language the patient understands, and prescribe only what is clinically necessary. It is the reason families across Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur and Nagaland return for second opinions — and the reason fellow physicians refer their own relatives to him.

Trained in DNB Internal Medicine and certified in Critical Care (CTCCM, ISCCM), he attends outpatient consultations, hospital admissions, ICU care, and follow-ups by telephone with the same considered attention.

Detail of care
01 — Diagnose

Every history,
taken slowly.

Diagnosis begins with the patient, not with the investigation. The full history, the family context, the medications already tried — examined in detail before a single test is ordered.

02 — Reason

Each finding,
reasoned aloud.

The patient is shown why the diagnosis fits. Investigations are explained in language a non-physician can follow. No mystery, no jargon, no surprises on the bill.

03 — Treat

Only what is
clinically needed.

Treatment is calibrated to the individual — the smallest effective intervention, with clearly defined endpoints and a plan for follow-up. Medications are reviewed at every visit and de-prescribed where possible.

The Philosophy

No two patients are alike. Every history is taken slowly. Every diagnosis is reasoned aloud. Every prescription is what the body actually needs — no more, no less.
